The Family of Birnie is truly a global family. Today, our nationalities are American, Canadian, English, Dutch, Irish, Australian, and of course Scots!

This is a mission of discovery. Searching for the origins of our name, and assembling our individual family histories.

Our core data has now been collected, and comprises some 6,000 birth, marriage, death, and census images.

Now our challenge is to merge and assemble this data into family trees. And to link to our descendents we need your assistance.

Ancestral data prior to 1950, or any immigration details would greatly assist us.

The Village of Birnie

The Elgin Museum  has a excellent display from the excavation of  Birnie Village. The excavation by Dr. Hunter not only found Roman artefacts, but a village that reflects the Celtic culture of the inhabitants.

The Church of Birnie

This small rural Kirk has history that dates from the earliest arrival of Christianity in Scotland. Probably built on a early Celtic site, it has survived to be one of the oldest Kirks still holding regular services. This is a recommended pilgrimage for all Birnie descendents.
